Bite This

And so
The meal ends
just before it grows stale
Every ounce of taste
Has been squeezed from it
Every drop of drinkable
Juice
Gone down the throat
Of the gullible
Choking
Only if you fight it
Swallow
Its easier that way
Goes down smoothly
And you can
Smile
And say thank you
Saving face and
Pretending
It was just a snack
You wanted
Anyway

this poem was an answer to something once but occasionally i drag it out again because it fits.

Just a snack... cheap, fast, little nourishment... sounds like a lot of relationships to me. Great write.

Time for new food on the table to make the meal more succulent than before. What would you like it to be? Grape wine and caviar, or whiskey with coke and pretzels?
