Two xanax and a glass of milk
Long way from the wild lady I used to be
Struggling with the words feels the same
But the words themselves used to team up
And spill out of me, making me hurry to get them down
Before I lost them completely
Today I search my way thru the haze of the pills
Telling myself there is something here to say
And I have to say it, if I can only make the words
One in front of the other, march across the page
Soldiers on a mission, out to express something
What I’m not sure yet, but something deep
They struggle thru the mire and land mines
Set out to destroy those diligent young soldiers of mine
Before they say whatever it is they need to say
But if it is to be war, then war it is and my words
And I will fight to the end, bravely, maybe foolishly
But never quitting, determined to reach the goal
The successfully written poem, or whatever it is called
Desperately, with a final struggle to get to the end
