You know I’ve been married to this thing I call reality
For just too damned long
Sleeping every night with the same truths that my mother
Handed me to chew on when I was cutting my teeth
Washing the soiled laundry of a society I didn’t dirty
Feeding insecurities with monotonous meals of half lies
And semi truths from religions that no longer satisfy
Day after day the same diet growing bland and unappetizing
As I grow fat and complacent from the excesses I no longer see as
Unnecessary.
I want a divorce, a total change from this thing called reality
Not a brief affair with high aspirations, only to return more
Restless and unfulfilled than before; not a dreamlike sabbatical
From this uncomfortable alliance but a clean cut, a new world
Where off spring of creativity and ambition stand a chance to grow
I want to experience the heady joy of the intercourse of two minds
Flowing along the same paths of existence, without the yokes of obligation
And commitment…merging in a union of common interests
Crying out in one voice, in absolute harmony…as we come together
