A scented bath
began the ritual she had come
to know so well
powdered and perfumed
she chose her clothes carefully
knowing the impression she left
tonight
would have to last till the next time
and she wanted him
to remember her, everytime he closed his eyes
she wanted her scent
to stay on his mind, in his heart
she wanted her
smile
to haunt his dreams when he was away from her
as he always was
as she knew now he always would be
the pain was as fresh as when she first realized
he would never leave HER
but she couldn't stop
this dance they had begun
this liar's minuet
they danced so well together
this tango of passion they practiced
every chance they got
she couldn't walk off the dance floor
as long as the music still played
the last cheater's waltz
wonderful write, sue; thanks for posting! makes me think of moe bandy; he had a hit called "the last cheater's waltz". (((HUGS))) and much love, your country music-lovin' texas friend, karen lynn. :D

This is brilliant! Captures raw emotion in a powdered, perfumed facade.
Killer With Three Heads is the second book in the Killer series. Bulletproof Morris ‘Mojo’ Johnson returns to New York as John Morrison after a 10 years’ absence to find the people responsible for kidnapping his daughter, Maria.
“We’re going to use nine megaton warheads in space and we’re not sure they’re large enough to be effective. Why would you even consider using kiloton-range surface-to-air warheads as back-up?” The answer was succinct. “Because they’re all we have.”
outstanding, beautifully penned piece--this flows like a song
(((HUGS))) and love,
