Yep That’s Me


I think I was born

Fully grown at 16, pulled yelling and screamin

Into a world I didn’t understand

There I was in my patched blue jeans

(I know, that’s a stretch but if I can be born at sixteen I can damned sure be born fully dressed.

Besides this is my story and the patched blue jeans

For what I have to tell

Back to where I left off

In my artistically patched blue jeans

And all around me

I see sweater sets,matched pearls

Junior proms

I’m scared to death

Its worse than I first thought

It’s the suburbs

And I am here, out of my depth

A postage stamp with a dot

Of lsd 25 under my tongue

A denim jacket over my shoulder

And I know its time to go

Forward to L.A.

Venice Beach to be exact

A million miles from the burbs

Light years away from my birth

And I’ve found a home at last

I think

I really believe

How easy I am to decieve

What I found

In my numbed stumbling fashion

Is another plane, another dimension

Where lies become our truth

Where we sit and stuff our minds

With anything chemical and illegal

While we bemoan our sad

Beginnings

Without a thought to where

We were headed

Going

Too fast

Speeding

Down a lost highway

Looking back

Never ahead

Afraid we might see

That wall we are

Speeding toward

That oblivion

We claim to want

That decision

We decline to make

Made for us by a hit too big

Heroin too strong

Cocaine too pure

But wait

This is me we are talking about

And I am still here writing these words

Did I see the light

Find God

Fight the honorable fight

Realize how deep I was

Or did I just…become…too…damned ….tired
