There doesn’t seem to be any reason anymore
Stop it I tell myself
Where did this defeatist attitude come from
From down under I’m sure
That much I did know
Down under, I persisted
Down under what, you were never there
Down under the dreams I answer
Where hope is buried
Ah I finally realized, I had found an answer
Reason lies under our dreams
Near hope, where it is safe and warm
But what if I need it I thought
It comes in handy so much these days
Then pull it out I suggested
Though it seemed unnecessary
Just grab it from the intellectual side
And pull it up into daylight
But don’t forget to put it back
Too much reason spoils the pie
Oh God I shuddered, I can’t bake pies
The crusts never turn out right
No one eats them and where is the reason
In baking something no one will eat
Better to leave it where it lies
Down there with hope and faith
Coddled, where I know I can find it
Why spoil it on everyday mundane things
