We come a long way in North America,
and have a long way to go in the Americas!

I believed Martin Luther King in 1968 when he declared that "All the little children…" Would be included in our society where everyone is equal, at least by opportunity.
That is the ideal. But there is an ignorance among many that color somehow is inferior and must be treated as such. Just yesterday, I received a video taken in 2006 at a football game where various members of military choirs sang the national anthem in the presence of presidents Clinton and Bush. All of the players with their hands on their heart looking very mournful and obedient and patriotic. The idea was that that was an idyllic time compared to today when players kneel in protest. The idiots that promote this kind of prejudice forget that in 1968 three sprinters from the United States all raised their fists in protest at the Olympic Games in Mexico City. I guess back then was a more idyllic time? To me all of the pomp and circumstance and politicizing of sports events is quite a bit ridiculous anyway. Especially, since it more about money than excellence in sport.
Keep up the poetry and the cause. Someday, Martin Luther King's dream will come true.
