Air currents lift me high
Offer solace without a sigh
Take me places I cannot see
Yet experienced, an epiphany
I become a leaf carried quietly
Over mountainous peaks and lush valleys
Panoramic splendor surrounds my soul
Betwixt dark clouds and kaleidoscopic rainbow
A wind tunnel shoots me down
Until I hover above the ground
A gentle breeze catches my wing
Warmer winds now signal spring
A floral palate becomes my canvas
Beauty abounds and invigorates my senses
A temporary respite upon pink azaleas
Brings forth the spring in all her regalia
Rested now I take off again
For another drink of tonic and gin
My stupor propels me into another flight
Where reds and oranges are dulled by night
A leaf no more I’m shackled to the ground
Where dust and termites continually abound
My senses dulled by alcohol
The wind disappears before my fall
