Sprinkle diamond dust across an ocean so white
and still, waves lie envisioning how they will look
in silver and lavender.   Now wrap
your gift in tissue you pattern after ermine.
Layer until you can't hear a sound.  Ready?
Tiptoe out and lay your present under a sky
where stars begin to nod.  Oh, and be sure
you remember to hide the strings Fate
insisted you tie.  Fear and Impatience
will find them, of course.  All pretty-does
to them.  Snow means black ice means ER.
Plummeting from a bridge.  Century to work,
school, bar.  Cops already warmed the jaws
of life.  Dogs busy spraying.  Picture yellow
slush.  Can't wait to sweep you in the gutter,
horse-laugh to follow-the-money-catch-a-game-
get-a-cut-buy-a-byte-bang-a-bod-move-
damnyou-move.   Then the power fails.
Hush shushes, Take a breath and clear a circle
in the frost so you can see.  Whisper thanks
for wanding  pearl powder as giving
as a loving mother's breast.  Offering more
inside.  Needed quiet.  Not to stay alive,
to be. Feast your eyes on the fineness
of the tissue.  Moon-like glow.  Allow
yourself to envision how you are going
to look in silver and lavender.   Dazzle
as you float on your float of fur,
Love nestled for all time at your side.

The opening line of "Snow Float's" words were formed with brilliant cut diamond, and the closing line was written with platinum words to reflect their glowing meaning.

I have enriched my mind reading "Snow Float".

I'm enamored with that last line, it's such a
fine ambition. ;) You are very talented Pea, how
in the world have I missed your work.

'Snow Float'?!! Jeez, Pea, the title has already phantomed me...

I cannot explain, in terms of words, how you affect me, which is why I cannot read too much of you, and others.

'Snow Float' skated me into the past, with such abandon, I lost 'myself' in your words. This piece is painfully beautiful, and hypnotically formed, in its passage of time, taste, life and colors-bright...

Imprinted with winter wisdom and it is just plain easier being a leader than a follower in any season. Winter is a season to take risks, boil some calm water for some relaxing tea and lie naked on the ermine! Snow Float is a winter chauffeur for sure. It drives us around the corner into Spring Avenue so we can burn some rubber! A consistent with your nature themes write, Pea.

Pea,

The pic is gorgeous, as is the poem; brings back memories of snowfalls of my youth in Ohio. Most of them pretty good, but I sure don't miss the shoveling! LOL Excellent, yet again. I love the way your mind works. :) You involve the reader in your poetry; one doesn't merely read it, they become it. BRAVA!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

The pic brings back memories of the late sixties when had an ice storm and it knocked out all our electricity for 3 days and my wife and I and our 5 kids learned how the earlier settlers lived and we tried to find a motel or hotel that wasn't full of like minded people. A three days of shivering that we'll never forget. Oh yes the trees looked beautiful all iced up as did everthing else. Great write.

I like this. I remember living in South Dakota when winter went on and on. The stuff about the dogs is so true. I could hardly wåit for spring, but was always glad when it snowed enough to cover the old gunk for a while, until it finally warmed up

This is a stunning beauty, Pea. There is nothing as peaceful as the quiet that snow creates, not to mention the stark beauty it casts about. Those are moments we wish to inhale and savor forever. Your images are knockout!Excellent penning, Pea!

The silence of the snow drifts across in this feast of a pen
I always come away from your Den energised and charged again
The pic is very symbolic too !
