When I was taking out trash,
electric blue un-
                         du-
                              lated
                                   across
a toe of a shoe, and was gone.  What?
I said to the patch of ivy where blue had dived.
You’re auditioning for Cirque du Soleil?   “World’s
best contortionist!  You think the speed
of light is fast!   Get your tickets now!”
On the way back,  another
thought struck.
Almost too beautiful, should have said.
Next time the little chameleon
does his act,  I will say
just that.   Once he knows
I am a fan, won’t be as quick
to run.
Why tease me with glimpses of glory?  I plan
to ask.  Why work so hard
to blend in?   Bad enough
that we human types do.  
If it is instinct, it is bad instinct, ask me.
Tell you what.
You slow, I’ll slow..  Toss out
the dishwater dull duds and go for
flash.  Stun ‘em with sun-soaked lime,
shock ‘em with turquoise-splashed aqua.  
Psychedelic razz-m’tazz.  Lizard hat,
lizard shoes.      
I will keep the dogs off the porch if you’ll show me
how to disappear or not. Need you to teach
me better timing.. Won’t hurt if you put on
weight.  Then you can help me tote
trash.   Hey!!  Where the blazes
                 did
                        you
             go–??..
