North Carolina lakes need more than 2' of water to recover. . .and a predicted 'up to a quarter inch of rain' turned to a quarter ounce, if that. Winter may be dry. Oh, well. Got poetry. . .smile. . .
Rain, sweet rain, rain for all you’re worth. Storm a bit, if you must. Just remember to pause to show your soft side. Ain’ the harpy we miss. Bitch shrieks her way cross-country, flinging epithets and flooding. Leave it to her to rob us of power and bridges we need. Evil Twin, tell us. Bad seed? Like you this way! Just a taste somehow reminds of melon. Few sips hint of lime. Soft-pedal, that’s it. Whisper and indulge us with. meaningful sighs. Jazz, dig? Oh that silver see-through! Way you warm your fingertips to buds, then massage. Sprinkle summer’s scent, or fall’s. That’s it. That’s it. Ooooooooooooooooh, baby. Never stay away that long. Just. . .no more fits, okay? Too many pummel and stab. Throw Chaos’s muck. Stay this sweet and I will never complain again. Maybe some. Pit-pat-pit-pat- pit-pa– you remembered! Now help me capture one more moment as I quench, still a child caring less for clothes, shoes, hair. Grown-up me groans as flesh enters flesh .Ssssssensssssssuous ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. ssssssssss – don’t you wish we could flow forever? No lightning, no thun--. . .Oh no! Come back! You forgot my k i s s

Love your energy in the rain...your style is forever.
love, Rhi
Totally adore this flirtation with the fickle-hearted nature of that wet stuff that can flood our senses, flush through our hearts and minds in maelstrom... or fall like fantasmagoria, faint and fleeting to fur our skins with the faintest of cute fuzziness. This seems a very female write to me, Pea - delightfully so. We gals and our elements have to stick together! :)) And thank you so much for your sweet thoughts on my page in response to my comments. Glad you enjoyed. K xx
What started out as a need for rain turned into one heck of a thunderstorm - right inside your house. I think your "storm" could have filled North Carolina lake by at least a foot.
2' feet of water...that's a lot
love the way you've done this.
So very good Pea!

Delightful read, and one that almost made me get up outta this heah chair and doo a little rain dance for ya . . . Well, I'm too darn old for doing rain dances anymore, about all I can do is get in the Taurus and go out to the edge of the swamp and hollar for ole Marie Laveau, see if I can conjure her up . . . Maybe she can put a good old-fashioned gris-gris on Tar Heel country and make it rain . . . Worth a try . . .
Brought a smile to me as well my friend! Kentucky is also suffering from drought! The outlook is grim, but as you said we've got poetry and better still we've got friendship, even if we are miles apart the den is a special place where people with similar interests become and share a unique friendship, a place where we can express our thoughts, emotions, and feelings with others through the power of words...you've penned a great one my friend, write on!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
You made me smile, (((Pea))), with the excitement over a little piddle. LOL Seriously: when you're down and need filling up, you just want to be filled to...overflowing. But not too much: don't want the muck afterwards. LOL And here, we couldn't GET sunshine if we'd paid someone, had all the wet, the wet, the neverending...you get the idea. LOL And now, it hasn't rained in a week and a half, and we're going WHERE'S THE RAIN???
Nothing to do at all with your wonderful poem. Sorry 'bout that.
Your poem: refreshing as the rain. Beautifully penned. Another keeper for the 'Pea files' in my libray! Well done, my (((friend))).
Explore the mystery of how nature makes unexpected gifts of creative wonders to an unsuspecting caregiver one late night and early morning in southeastern Georgia, USA.
