Poem Artwork

Graceful when you are awkward.
Awkward when you are graceful.
Awesome.   Acrobatic
Automatic?
Oh, to be as balanced.
Ace any limb I want,
No matter how thin
And brittle.  Helps
To be little?  Oh, to escape
Into flight
Without effort, without
Having to bow
To Id or Ego.
Don't give a hang,
What I like.   Don't think
About worshipping at the shrine
Homo sapiens erected
For sacrifices to Intellect.

How freeing it must be
To have enemies not within,
But without.  That you
Can identify.  Even keep
An eye on.   How is it you
Know how to build
The right nest for you
And yours?   When to abandon
And go into hiding?
Even the shortness of the life
You live by instinct, clinging
Enough but no more,  eggs on
The green-eyed monster
In me.  Hate I have to settle
For the odd glimpse
Through borrowed glass.
Smudged, at that.

Pea,

I am totally undone by the beauty in these lines of wanting to join our feathered friends -- no worries, no bills, no s t r e s s. Move over, kiddo, save a wing and a prayer for me! Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I think you said it all with the word instinct. If we followed ours more, maybe more good would happen. I like the rhythm in this poem, too. Hugs,
Sheila

An extended metaphor is difficult to do. You have done it in a marvelous poem. Bravo!

Your glass although smudged sees more than most, and your deft tweaking of the feather carressed the sweetness of your lines. What soulmate the birds have found in you, what appreciation of their beauty, thanks Jean this is most wonderful poem, I shall save it and with your permission post it under the picture of little Angelface, it will be so much enriched by such loving true verse.

I have huge Crows (I think Ravens)chasing the Blue Jays and squirrels away, it even seems the crows are protecting the little wrens. They are fastenating to watch, as Mama Crow marched her five little ones across the roof for a drink and a lesson to fly. Spring is here. Great Write, Pea. Whose the green eyed monster, that Hates?
Always be well, Carin'

I watch birds near where I live they are truly pawns to the feline especially. I am facinated by the mocking birds. They dive at the cats without fear. They are very interesting animals. And so was this fine writing, Phyllis.

GOD BLESS YOU
TONY
