The Rose Of Goodbye

You bought me a rose -placed it in my hand-
With a tear in your eye - I didn't understand.
You said you were leaving me - time to move on-
I had no clue you felt this way- I should have known.
You gave me this rose as a token of all we shared-
Darling , I wish you knew just how much I cared.
You say I did nothing wrong - you want to be free-
Did you ever think how this would effect ME?

How can I face life knowing you are gone?
How can I walk in at nite to an empty home?
I've given you so many years - how blind can I be?
I never had a clue that you were'nt happy.
Tear's are flowing...honey, what did I do?
How can you tell me that we are through?
I'm searching for just the right words to say -
As you kiss me and slowly walk away....

Linda, this is so sad. I hope this is just a poem well-written!

P.S. Some men always threaten to leave, but they never do. In my eyes, they're even worse.

Great write Linda,
How sad but true that love can wither into nuthingness. How we once couldn't breath without our mate and hung on their every word. Dwindles into mindless prattle and hardly noticing they are around. Good capture of this sensation.
