Poem Artwork

Hello Mrs. Smith.

May I please talk to you

Were you born in Kansas

Is your first name Sue

Oh, I have searched

For you so long

I knew I had to find you

Be it right or wrong

Did you have a daughter

Twenty two years ago

After giving birth to her

You had to let her go

I don't want you to cry

Mama, please dry your tears

I've searched for you

For so many years

***********************************

Have you thought of me

As the years went by

Did you wish to see me

Did you ever try

When my birthday rolled around

Did it make you sad

Did you think of all the years

We could have had

Are you happy, Mama

Do you have a family

Inside your lonely room

Do you ever cry for me

So many thoughts of you

Time that we have lost

I had to find you, Mama

No matter what the cost

*************************************

I want to touch your face

Make sure you are real

I wonder if you look like me

Mama, how do you feel

We are both in tears

Emotions rising high

How can I be sobbing

And telling you not to cry

Mama, will you meet me

I want to see you face to face

You can name the time

You can pick the place

I don't want to disrupt your life

Please try to understand

I just want to hold you

Touch my Mama's hand...

I assume this is autobiographical? Poignant and touching. the adoption process is sadly outdated in this digital age, and ought to be database centric, so as to cut through the red tape, to allow you to post anonymously the request for the birth mother and child to "find" each other, if it is mutually agreeable.

The reunion of child and parent separated at birth is one that can be so traumatic that it sets the heart into tumble dry and the mind into overdrive. My Dad got a young girl pregnant just prior to WW II, She was Protestand, he was RC and as anyone knows in that era mixed marraiges were rare and the young lady was shipped off to Ontario and my Dad went overseas to war but always wondered about this child. After the war and a marraige of almost forty years and nine other children my mother went through Parent Finders Canada and located this son and he has been a part of our family every since.

My dear friend I am so elated at this poem and thank God that my mother didn't abandoned us when my father choose to seek the city lights! There were five of us but only by the grace of God she saw it through and we both know it wasn't easy. I think a wonmans connection with God is beyond any man's comprehension which also includes child birth. Children need their parents both of them! Peace!!!
