Dear Mr. Santa
How do you do today
Bet you are very busy
But I have a few things to say
Mommy says you may not come
That there'd be no presents here
Things are hard at my house
Since my Daddy died last year
I don't ask for alot of toys
Or a pretty Christmas tree
I know there are many others
Who are far worse than me

Dear Mr. Santa
I ask for my Mama's smile
For all her worry to go away
And that old man in the street
He seemed to need a better day
There's a little boy in my class
He has no warm coat to wear
I saw a poor woman on the sidewalk
Her little feet were cold and bare

Dear Mr. Santa
You may not see the children
Who hurt and cry
You may not see the Mommy's
Who struggle every day
And wonder why
I don't ask for myself
Anything at all for me
Just take care of all the others
And Jesus will take care of me

2008 Linda Hill

Linda this is so beautifully sad for I fear its what many children are writing to Santa this year. Your painful write shows your tremendous heart. God bless and keep you safe. Love, Bonnie

Linda,

You've A Big Heart and A Gentle Soul. I pray that your example will surely lead the way. Let's not forget the poorest souls on this Holy Christmas Day. Thank Jesus for His Blessings and ne'er forget He cares. Lead by His example, be blessed in all you share. Peace, Love, Blessings & Friendship Always, Paul.

You know I can't help but think when I read this that she has the best Christmas gift there is...a sweet innocent lack of greed and a desire to make others happy before her self. You captured this so beautifully Linda, well done.

Realizing that I missed something the first time I read "Mr. Santa," I added the following:

As a child we long for Santa.

As an adult we long for the child.

______________________________________

Timeless questions you raise here Linda. The invisible rules the visible, else we would indeed all be like the beggar in the street, but for our childlike faith. We should not judge by sight, but by faith.

Poems like this have always haunted me, and made me feel a bit guilty for not being able to do more to help those in need.

I hope Santa is good to you this year, and indeed, all the year long. This is a poem worthy of a wider audience. You should try and enter it in a contest.

You must become as a little child in order to enter into the kingdom of heaven. This is what comes to mind immediately when I read this pure innocent child view of life and thier prayer wishes. I am in total concert with this poem and thank you Linda for keeping hope alive! Peace!!!

Beautiful write. Kids are so innocent trusting those they shouldn't. Hopefully they can trust Santa.
