The pure sweet innocence of a child..
Before the world has a chance to change them.
The heart of a child sees no war..no hate..
no murders, no sorrow.
Before adult problems burden their hearts with
jobs, bills, appointments, and boys
The heart of a child sees Mickey Mouse,
Barbie Dolls, fairy tales.......and God.
The heart of a child knows not the pain of a lost
love, a hastily spoken word said in anger, the prejudice of a neighbor, or the stark reality of dealth.
The heart of a child sees a Mommy who can cure all boo-boos, dry all tears, with just a hug.
The heart of a child sees tree swings, merry-go-rounds,
sunshine ....and God.
A childs heart never sees the discontent of the world, doesn't realize a gun can kill their best friend..or them. A childs heart doesn't see the starving children of the world, or the loneliness of that woman sitting on the bench alone.
A child's heart sees Saturday morning cartoons..
Bert and Ernie...and God.
A child doesn't see six inches of snow as a nuisance...but a snowman. A child doesn't see a world of violence and hate, but one of magic and angels. A child doesn't know about the horror of rape, of robbery, of pain. A child sees the beauty in a rainbow...That Mommy and Daddy can move Heaven and Earth for them...A child's heart sees hugs , kisses and dreams....and God.
This is what every child should see. Not the horrors and abuse in the world. May all our children have a chance to be a child first...with its fairy tale land of magic.
--unless to become like a little child you can not enter ....
an excellent write, well done

first, a thanks for your caring comments on my "death ends hope" and now, thanks for this
poem of hope (especially the notation) ... such a worthy goal.
I truly wish all children could grow up with such idealized perfection...I wish that there were no hungry, starving children in the world or ones that know their lives to be one of fear and loss, I wish all children could have a warm home and parents that love them...I wish all children had the best that life has to offer...only the grownups in the world are able to make that happen for them. Excellent write! ~ Dee
"we must never forget what it is like to look through the eyes of a child" W.Wordsworth... very well expressed...
