Door closed behind me
Locked up tight
Oh, how I miss you
Little one tonight.
I can see your big blue eyes
Smiling up at me
Or handing me a drawing
You want me to see.
A bounce in your step
As you skip along
Oh little one, I wish
I had never done wrong.
Sad faces stare through
The emptiness and pain
Eyes void of reason
Living in vain.
Little one, I think of
You so many miles away
Outside in your sandbox
So hard at play.
You don't remember your Dad,
But I remember you
What a miracle you were
With your eyes of blue.
I got in with the wrong crowd
I lost all I own
Every letter to you comes
Back address unknown.
The bars of steel is colder
Than ice in a storm
Little one, I pray you are
Safe and you are warm.
One day I will find you
Hold you close to me
You are my everything
My little girl of three.
I will miss so much of your
Growing up years
I wish I could be there to
Dry your many tears.
I have a photo of you
Its faded and worn
I can see your pretty face
Though the edges are torn.
Every nite I dream of you
Every nite I cry
Every nite my heart aches for you
Sometimes I want to die...
Door closed behind me
Locked up tight
Oh, how I miss you
Little one tonite...
This is so beautiful and so sad. To many people wind up losing everything over their own selfishness. Once they lose it they find it's to late and can never get it back. So sad...
God bless,
Tim

Just a little extra to this song. It is based on real life, not only for what has happened at the AD, but what happened in my childhood over a half century ago. This is a down home Hank Williams shit kicker. My Mother who I have just been able to reconcile my feelings toward ... in many ways fit Ruby Diamonds. She was an alcoholic and could not stay away from the bars. I used to dance in the barroom as a young child and the drunks threw money on the floor. Momma couldn't help it, and at this moment I am crying cause I was ashamed of her and would not stand up for her. My Step Father was very brutal and used to beat her and kick her with his steel toed miners boots. One time he even stabbed her. Momma
wound up in a mental hospital with a wet
brain. Oh Momma please forgive me. I was so
wrong to do this. I love you Momma. Billy

Extra marital affairs ... at least so
they say ... are based on lack of
romance in the home. We who become
involved believe this. And in many
cases this is true. Sometimes, a
partner who has led a healthy, vigorous
sex life finds that for either physical
or mental reasons or both, the physical
love stops at home. The song is
titled: "Ruby Diamonds", but it could
have just as easily been titled: "Bill
Diamonds." And the song is not just
about one person ... but applies to
many, many people at the AD.
