Shortly after 7am yesterday morning in Maxton, North Carolina a five year old little girl, Shelia Hernandez and her mother waited for the school bus, just as they do Monday thur Friday. Just as the bus stopped and Shelia got in front of the bus to go to the other side to get in, a tractor trailer truck slammed into the rear of the bus sending it 200 ft. killing Shelia and putting her mother in the hospital in critical condition. The 38 year old truck driver was searching for his cell phone. That was the reason he couldn't see the bus. I wonder at such a tragedy and a life snuffed out at such a young age. My mind scream's "WHY". Why not take the murderers , the robbers, why take such young , innocent children? God must have needed a special angel yesterday morning at 7am. I just wish I could understand ....
Getting ready for school
How could she have known
The hand destiny would play
How fast life can be gone
Standing waiting for the bus
Not a care in the world
Thinking of her day ahead
A little five year old girl
Her Mommy waits quietly nearby
As the bus draws near
She see's the truck approaching
Her heart freezes with fear
Glass shattered, screaming kids
Mommy and child lay on the ground
The Mommy moaning in her pain
The child made not a sound
And Angel stood their waiting
She took the girl in her arms
Wiped away her tears and sorrow
Told her she meant no harm
She let her wave to her Mommy
As she glided her up to the sky
A precious five year old girl
Much to young too die
What a heart wrenching story, followed by a poem that really cuts to the soul. I just lost a friend to a car accident on his way to work August 6th, so I can share this pain.

Linda, this is the world we're living in. Life, no one's life has a guarantee on it, not even little children. The key to living this life is knowing how to view the tradegy and go on living, which we have no choice. It's like watching the evening news with all the death and destruction on it, you watch it, turn off the tv, feel sorry for the victims, and be glad it isn't your turn to burn. Heartbreaking write. I guess that is one of the reasons why they have banned the use of cell-phones in cars in the UK

It is, in fact, a terrible tragedy. Yet we cannot
blame God for 'taking' someone, when careless humans
are at fault. It would be tantamount to canceling
our newspaper subscription, because our mate said
some nasty things to us.
I personally grit my teeth when I meet cars or trucks
in which the selfish driver is more interested in cell
phone contacts, his or her coffee, or the tape/CD
tray, than they are in others staying alive. In Wisconsin,
a law against the use of cell phones (in a moving vehicle)
is in debate, and I hope it comes to fruition.
Well I had not heard this story until now..but now I sob in sorrow for the loss of a precious child. Understanding the hand of life is not for us to do, helping those that are left in grief is our job. Linda you have a heart of solid gold,,this write is priceless. Lisa
i wish i could understand this too. why do people have to be so irresponsible or so wrapped up in themselves instead of paying attention? because of the insensitivity of some jerk who was more interested in his cell phone, a little girl is dead, and her mother is critically hurt. heartwrenching, heartbreaking write that has a needed and powerful message!
