Poem Artwork

Not yet...I'm not ready God
I have to hold on
Even when my tears flow
And my strength is gone
I have to have that thread
My tiny ray of hope
It's the only way I can survive
My solace of hope

Not yet...I'm not ready God
To turn loose of her hand
All through her little life
I've been there to help her stand
How can I bear to lose her
My precious little girl
But can I intensify her pain
To keep her in this world

Not yet...I'm not ready God
Her life here is not through
The doctors have done all they can
Now it's up to You
She's been sick so long now
Suffered every pain
She took it like a trooper
While I was going insane

Not yet...I'm not ready God
Just a little longer I pray
Another month, another year
Just please don't make it today
I'm sorry I'm being so selfish
But how will I go on
With my very heart ripped out of me
My only child gone

Not yet...I'm not ready God
Give her a chance to live
She's a brilliant little girl
With so much to give
This illness has taken away
Stealing her energy
Smiling behind the little tears
She's hoping I won't see

Not yet...I'm not ready God
But do I dare have the right
To question your decision, Lord
If You want her tonight
Do you need a special angel
To dance around your throne
Or is it not the time, God
For your reason to known

Not yet...I'm not ready God

Linda, sad but beautifully written. I don't think you are going through this now so it amazes me how you come up with what really must go on in these situations. Keep up the good work, Roger

Extremely heartwrenching write, Linda. Like James, I often wonder 'the why' of childhood illness and disease. But I guess none of us will ever be privileged enough to know. All we can do is pray.

I often wonder why the Divine makes ones so young have to face such hardships so early in life. And why their loved ones must agonize over this. I wish I could reach out and make all things right for you...I do wish you bright blessings...with hopes that you find peace in the knowledge that to all things there is a season...
