Into the darkening shadows she ran,
Fully aware he was following her.
The pounding of her heart, a steady drum
Echoing like thunder in her head.
She’d seen him before, but she couldn’t place him,
That is until she picked up the newspaper
On her way home from work yesterday.
The police were looking for him,
In another city, in another country,
His former girlfriend had been murdered,
He was a person of interest.
This was a small town, nothing bad happened here.
That would change this night.
Tall and muscular, he was confident
She would be no match for him.
Her petite body, with its delicious curves,
Would be his, to exploit, and destroy.
He’d been watching her for a few days,
She was always alone – it was perfect.
Women were evil, they tormented,
Taunted and manipulated men,
Using their wiles to entrap them
Until they were distracted by another,
All women were whores!
He could feel his hands around her throat,
Her warm body writing beneath him,
As he squeezed her last breath
From her lying, cheating body!
He felt himself getting hard.
He’d satisfy his need soon enough.
She hurried along the treacherous path
Toward the jagged cliffs;
She knew this trail like the back of her hand,
From childhood to womanhood
She’d traversed it a thousand times.
It was in the dense foliage
Near the edge of the cliffs,
That she hid from her disgusting stepfather.
It was a dark night so very long ago,
She could bear his abuse no longer.
He called to her, threatening her,
Then he’d spotted her, crouching in the trees.
She’d nearly fallen over the edge herself.
Stepping aside as he lunged at her
She hit him across the back with a thick piece of birch.
His dying screams music to her ears.
She was twelve years old at the time.
She was in full control this time!
He rushed headlong down the winding path,
It was darker now, and shadows were tricky,
But his need drove him recklessly forward.
He licked his lips in anticipation,
The lifeless bulging eyes of his cheating girlfriend
Imprinted in his twisted mind.
He’d killed two more sluts since her,
The hunt was nearly as exciting as the kill!
They were powerless against him,
He was in full control!
She could hear his rapid breathing,
As he stood scant inches away
From where she crouched gripping the metal pole.
With steely determination, she stood her ground!
Sensing her presence, he turned around,
As a blood-curdling scream shattered the stillness
And he lunged toward her.
Stepping quickly aside, she swung the metal pole,
Striking him hard across the back.
His dying screams music to her ears.
She heard the smack as his body hit the base of the cliffs,
Where dozens of her other victims lay
All men were pigs!
One by one she’d destroy them!
