Memo To Mom

When I was in my forties, my Mother (who passed away three years ago) gave me a musical stuffed frog for my birthday. He sings "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. This morning as I was brushing my hair, I reached onto the shelf for a hairband, and accidently pushed the button on the frog's hand that makes him sing. The frog began to serenade me. Through tears of laughter, I said, "Good morning, Mom, I love you." This poem came a little while later....

You taught me to be truthful,
You taught me to be fair,
You told me it’s okay to trust,
But life’s not always fair.
 
You shared with me a golden truth,
You made sure that I knew,
Life is a very precious gift,
And I lived it as I grew.
 
You gave me unconditional love,
You sacrificed for me,
And the only thing you ever asked,
Was to be the best I could be.
 
You are still my sanctuary, Mom,
Even though you’ve left this world,
And I wanted you to know, Mom,
You’d be proud of your little girl.

She gave me a little pink puppy that sings "Puppy Love". I make him sing once in awhile, and it bring her close. This really touched me.
