Tryst At Sea

This one came out of gazing over the rail of Allure and knowing no one would survive falling overboard...intentionally or not...

Poem Artwork

Whitecaps danced neath a yellow moon
O’er a darkening sapphire sea!
A couple strolled the forward deck
Hand in hand, cheek to cheek.
At midnight, near the bow of the ship
They stole a warm embrace.
Desire scorched his very soul
At the beauty of her face.
Her body pressed against him
Burning passion in his stare!
Naked neath her clinging dress
Every nerve he owned aware!
Imprisoning him with her fiery craze
She shook him to his core.
Savagely taking all that he had
Until he could give no more!
Night had deepened into dawn,
Not another soul around,
It seemed the ship was theirs alone
What paradise he had found!
Still dizzy from the ample drink
She’d plied him with that night,
He wondered if he’d see her again
Their tryst had been so right!
Leaning over the rail, he gazed at the sea
Eyes blurred from lack of sleep,
When from behind she shoved him hard
Casting him into the deep!
His silent scream lost in the wind
As life flashed fore his eyes!
No time to question what she’d done
Death an unwelcome surprise!
Demonic laughter followed him
As she watched him slip away,
Knowing victim number four
Would be hers later on that day!

EXCELLENT WORK! CERTAINLY A MOST SURPRISED ENDING. RHYME, RHYTHM, PHRASES AND IMAGERY BLEND WITH A SMOOTH SOLIDITY THAT STAUNCHLY SUPPORT THE THEME. WELL DONE AND ENJOYED. I WILL KEEP THIS ONE. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Wow, so unlike what you've... or at least so unlike what I've read that you've written. Scary story, my northern friend.

Wonderful expansion of the inner life as well as outer, and all combined into one shocking and intoxicating write!
Stunningly told and punctuated by an ending that is not the way we expect :)

Christine

Yikes! Talk about a surprise ending! Everything was perfect ,,,, the words, the rhythm of the words, and even the heart-stopping climax. :)

Wow!!! I was so enjoying this,,, then that surprise ending. It's a fantastic write, but I so much more enjoyed the mushy first half than that killer 2nd half. Guess I'm just a romantic at heart.

Well done Anna, Thanks Dick

Evil thoughts coming from that pretty head of yours? I'm aghast. But delighted! I see a novel here. A serial killer who stalks wayward husbands on cruise lines. Gotta love it.
