The Bored of Relations

My heart
Held a meeting
With it’s neighbor from
across the street;
my left shoulder

They met at the west side Lips
For co-counseling
It was uncomfortable because
Neither was much interested in more than relief:
The shoulder wanted coffee, strong,
The heart wanted to go back to bed.
And the coffee was taking too long to be served;
No one was getting her needs met.

It was clouding over and the thought of
Getting wet and cold
Made the right side shiver
And the right ear itch
The throat was miserable
Even though it remained dry,
It itched to speak but the shoulder and heart
Shunned it because it croaked and hadn’t been invited.

The fingers were welcomed however,
For they were quieter and often more
Thoughtful than the throat,
And by the way,
The mouth was
Not invited, but
It had it’s own problems,
Having losses in the past year
Of teeth and such,
It was feeling constantly irritable and not only that,
Ugly and didn’t want attention,
At least not from any known members
Of the Bored
With everything.

They tried to focus,
Make eye contact,
Which was easier for the heart to do
Than for the shoulder.
They needed more input, it was agreed.
"lets see what the others have to say," they nobly
began drafting an invitation
to the right body/brain,
which was usually right

But even that had it’s problems, it turned out.
There were stingy/minty feelings, but in difficult to discern locations that took abnormally long to locate:
the right side of the neck was resentful and clinging to a man who was no longer available
and there was a cottony itch
in the right ear, eager to join in conversation,
but what the hell did that member know, being so muffled?

The bottom floors weren’t even consulted,
where the janitor and his maid were indisposed
trying to get it on in bed, but too tired,
then repeatedly on the pot, they were simply
a mess.
And the legs had a hangover when the invitations would have arrived that afternoon,
Which was just as well, because they would have made excuses and lies,
claiming it was too early in the morning for any of this
which would have confused and turned off
the top members of The Bored from being open to diversity
from the lower echelons who were always causing trouble.
Overall, the entire group was indisposed and irritable, and those who were consulted ended up requesting to table the whole thing till the sun came out and they’d rested,
Butt
The head said no that this meeting had been way overdue
on the agenda and we have to clear it or things are going to bog down to a standstill, meaning:
We are all getting sick.
