The Hunting Trip

By Jim Stewart c 1998

 

Yeah, it's deer hunting season again

But then again it is always hunting season.

I'll have to go out buy some new gear.

Maybe a new one of those bright orange vest.

Me and the boys will get our license and buy some beer

But, we'll end up shootin' the shit and gettin' drunk

 

Well it's duck season again

I guess I'll have to get some new decoys

Me and the boys will get our license and buy some beer.

But, well end up shootin' the shit and gettin' drunk.

 

Now it's quail season again

Have to get the hounds in shape.

Me and the boys will get out license and buy some beer

But, We'll end up shootin' the shit and gettin' drunk.

 

Then each time we'try to sneak in the house

So we don't disturb the little Mrs.

But, she'll come out and catch us everytime.

Then she says," Who's shit is that in the garage?"

"I ain't cleaning up that shit!"

"Get that shit out of here!"

"I ain't cooking that shit!"

 

Next time me and the boys

Are just Going fishing.

Probably

We'll just catch some hell.

This caused me to really laugh!!! I can remember all the hunting seasons too and the fishing also. The men would sit up half of the night talking about there trip and then get up at 4 am to go hunt. What a gang they were? They politiced each other to death. I really enjoyed this.

This is too clever, Jim, and so true! Guys gotta do what a guy's gotta do - but show a little appreciation for the Mrs. :) They don't exactly like it when their Honey comes home, smelling like blood and beer, staggering, trompin' mud through the house, slapping raw meat on the counter, demanding to be fed ... I'd get a might rankled, too. LOL Well done, though, like this one, a LOT!
