Poem Artwork

Myself

Who is this person deep within my soul?

Yearning to be free

Lurking deep beneath the fleshly body

Alien to me.

Each time that I feel happiness abound

Sprits flying high

You come along with a mad raging force

Causing me to cry

A hateful hurtful personality

A coward no doubt

Shadowed deep within this tortured mind

Waiting to come out.

I do not know this sad skulking creature

Fighting to be real

You cannot be any part of myself

Or the things I feel

Why do you constantly lie in waiting?

Recurring at will

Bringing forth your unscrupulous thoughts

Making me feel ill.

All I want is a life of contentment

Peace within my heart

This deceitful demon within my soul

Hindering my will to start.

It's so true how we can look inside ourselves and seem so alien, we tend to be far harder on ourselves...but that is what gives us the drive to push on. Great write Sherry!! ~ Dee

We all have an inner child with us. Some of them are good, and some of them are bad.
