Whispers and Dreams

by Kathy Lynn

Starry eyed the princess gazes as she dreams,

Of foreign lands and sailing on the high seas.

Through the castle window flows the gentle breeze,

She hears a whisper sent  her to tease

Of foreign lands and sailing on the high seas,

Hoping to start some of her own memories.

She hears a whisper sent  her to tease,

"Open your heart, princess, come unto me."

Hoping to start some of her own memories,

The desire to leave overwhelms her soul.

"Open your heart, princess, come unto me."

Thoughts running through her mind won't let go.

The desire to leave overwhelms her soul,

Silent tears fill her dreamy eyes.

Thoughts running through her mind won't let go,

Are these thoughts real or merely just lies.

Silent tears fill her dreamy eyes,

Despair overwhelms her being.

Are these thoughts real or merely just lies,

Scanning the sea and azure skies.

Despair overwhelms her being,

Keeping her heart and soul from really feeling.

Scanning the sea and azure skies,

The whisper says softly, "Come to me."

Keeping her heart and soul from really feeling,

The castle sits high on a mountain top,

The whisper says softly,"Come to me"

Circling in her mind will it ever stop.

The castle sits high on a mountain top,

Foreboding to those that would want to enter.

Circling in her mind will it ever stop,

Soft whispers to setting her free.

Quite a bit of contrasting emotion within this fine piece, Kathy. Very visual and emotive! Hugs, Elizabeth

Graphic image and verses complement one another very effectively, Kathleen. To me, the castle is very symbolic as well. Thank you for sharing your creative gifts. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis
