Thunder on the Lake
Summer's hot breath, off
the waters; Speak-
Painting evening skies with
eyes wide and blue-
Watching as the waves toss
tiny toy vessels-
Sunset promising liquid dreams;
before bidding us,
Adieu
There's thunder on the lake,
as darkness falls-
Rolling; Tumbling, and the
throwing of tempers-
Friction scrapes deep;
Exposing raw fears-
The smallest of nature;
Whimpers
Lilypads dance; Giving a
seductive performance-
Offerings of sweet romance-
Tree frogs swoon; Owls, tentatively
pay attention-
Lovers and dreamers
take a chance
A babe in the arms of it's
Mother; Sleeps
As the thunder on the lake;
Lays down to rest-
The old man in the moon; Turned
on his light-
for all his nightly guests
