"From the rising of the sun to the setting of the same, we shall remember them"... and with writes as lucid and poignant as this, the memory will be vivid and soul-stirring as it truly ought to be. No pain, no gain: for those who can't feel this, they will neither be aware of the great value of the things that they take for granted: like freedom, peace and loved ones. Sherry! You get the standing o.... reading this, along with many other fine posts, early on a rainy Memorial Day. For whatever reason, I am especially cognizant this year of how we choose to carry on when confronted with the loss of those who gave their lives for our freedom - and the world's. Yours is my fav so far. Fine poetry that waves high the flag of freedom and honor in the home of the brave and the land of the free. Thank you so very much. Dawn

Sherry,
You have created a tribute to our Heroes, that leaves me in tears, but at the same time reflecting on their duties they perform with bravery and honor, and the families they've left behind, to pick up the pieces and carry on.
This should be hung in every heart across America, and be required reading for all.
Absolutely stunning write Sherry, and what makes it even better is that I know you never write empty words, so, one knows when they are reading your creations, they are meant to be felt.

Oh this is just so beautiful. That picture just chokes me, The tears are just streaming My body filled with chills from the honor and respect that you have and show for the Veterans and the Love for them. I share that love, the mouring and gratitude with you for them. Sherry this is such a loving tribute.

super Sherry, at times I wonder why one man will go to the outer limits with life and another one won't. I was a policeman, took an oath to fight crime, almost died in the process. My brother would not even think about doing the job. They were interviewing some gulf war soldiers who almost lost their lives, this is what one of them said, "he wanted to survive to do it again." At the time I was watching this on the news, I was thinking, "no way."

Sherry you have me in tears with this gem! With this poem you have managed in your lucid fashion to portray just what our freedom costs us, and why every single person should be grateful for those who have sacrificed their lives and respect given to their families. Multiply Arlington 500 times, and then find the graves of those in a thousand cemetaries across the land, and then those buried in foreign lands or never found and buried and the scale of the price can be counted.
