'Murdered with a carving knife . . . '

Poem Artwork

Wrote paperback book

after paperback book

because he had the

right source – himself.

Would commit the perfect

crime using his split

personality – a modern

day ‘Jekyll and Hyde’.

Drank a potion mixed up

by his partner in crime – his

deceased wife; she was the

first one that he murdered.

Murdered with a carving knife

As sharp as-a doctor’s scalpel

And the author knew how to use

it – with precision, but no mercy.

Had book signing after book

signing – sold millions of copies

And that’s where he’d pick his

next victim, always female.

Then along came an undercover

cop – she quickly had his number

Showed-up at one of his signings

Afterwards, tailed him to his home.

Waited till dark and made her move

With search warrant in hand; broke

into his lab and filled Jekyll’s wife

with lead – then emptied his potions.

Substituted the elixir with water

as-in H2O; she hid and called

for backup – the paperback writer

came in and drank the placebo.

When he spotted the undercover

cop, he bolted – police followed

And no matter how hard he tried

He could run, but he couldn’t ‘Hyde’.

Was caught, handcuffed – the cops

purposely slammed his face into the

doorframe of the patrol car; his skin

began cracking like aging pottery.

When it had all crumbled onto the

floor of the squad car, the arresting

officers and the undercover cop sat

in horror – it was Jack the Ripper . . .
