Black Caddie Sedan rolling-on by

Looked over to wave, thought it

might be neighborly – was totally

ignored; the driver seemed to be in

quite a rush . . .

Thought I’d play a game and call

the cops – “Yeah, I wanna report

a drunk driver;”  Next thing, siren

shows-up; passes me like I’m having

a Sunday picnic . . .

I come-up over a ridge – the police

officer is lying on the side of the

road all crumpled-up like yesterday’s

news; the Black Caddie Sedan

busts a hump . . .

Sand and gravel decorate my car’s

hood “You *#%&# bum!” I yell, then

hit the gas; “I’m gonna put my foot

where the sun don’t shine!”  Faster

Now getting closer . . .

Glance down at the speedometer

90; 100; 110 mph – starts to rain

The road turns into an ice-skating

rink; the Black Caddie Sedan sails

off a cliff . . .

“Have a nice trip, see ‘ya in the fall”

I call out – Mr. Nice Guy calls 911

They send an ambulatory and a tow-truck

When they show, the car and driver are

no longer there . . .

“Hey bud, is this some sort of gag?”  No

one laughs after they see the skid marks

“What the . . . ?”  We all head to the nearest

bar for several cold ones – Black Caddie

Sedan parked outside . . .

Motor running, with driver inside; out comes

a shotgun 12 gauge – blows my windshield to

kingdom come, luckily I ducked; siren in the

distance; back-tires smokin’ as the car and

driver pull-out . . .

Gets broadsided by a dump truck named Mack

The Black Caddie Sedan reassembles itself

along with the driver, leaves the scene; cop shows-up

“Oh my God!”  “He died in that car back in the

50’s – train track . . . "

“He use to own this county, never did take

to kindly to strangers, nor town folk for that

matter;”  “We’ve been trying to railroad him

out, ‘cause we don’t like him – you see, we’re

all good ghosts . . . "
