Snow Angels

I am thinking...
it's cold outside
the sky is gray
and white snow falls to the ground
the icicle hang from the roof above
wishing i could be as one
...frozen and still from all life

My heart is frozen,
Alienated from all life,
Why can't I be as dead as the snow,
as quiet and still-
I love the cold!
It freezes my soul,
Quiets my thoughts,
If only I could be so cold!

so cold that the blood in my veins freeze up,
then burst open through my numb skin
having little ice like droplets,
falling and shattering to the ground
as my tears so painfully do
Why?
why cant i be frozen still
As the life that breathes inside of me?

The trees have lost their leaves,
They look as empty as me,
Their branches beseech the sky,
Their trunks burned black by the cold,
As black as my soul,
Is it so wrong to seek peace?
To want to be so numb,
You can't feel the pain anymore,
Of being alive...?

Is it so wrong to just want to be left alone?
Must I be casted away because a tear flows from my blue face?
life...something this body never knew
death...finally something i know that is true
tell me,
why is it we wish for things we have never known
when that thing can bring more destruction than before
if that is the case, why should i wish to feel real
when it could open me up to pain

I rather be like the snow,
So frozen through and through,
Never have to feel,
The pain I feel in you...
Look how the ice sparkles in the sun,
it's beauty is blinding me,
I feel such a longing,
To just lay down and spread my arms so wide,
And when they come to find me,
finally carry me away,
I will leave an imprint of a snow angel,
For them to see...
I wonder what they will think,
What they will believe,
If I forget to tell them,
This is the real me...

they will line up, one by one
looking at all the angels in the snow,
searching for me
there I am, the one with the broken wing
clipped off by the pain of you're world
but I am free now
I fly free,
frozen in space and time,
As I always wished to be.

Too much painful, cutting heat makes the soul long for refreshing cold and stability, so well expressed in your deeply emotional poem.
The last paragraph is truely wonderful. Franz

I believe death is something to look forward to--a reward for the Hell we endure on Earth. Death (suicide)is the easy way out. Of course, I believe in reincarnation, and I know that if I don't deal with my problems in this life, they will still be there to deal with in the next. Your poem is exquisite and certainly quite thought-provoking. Thanks for creating and sharing.
