I think of you,
How alone you must have felt,
How empty,
How unloved-
I should have been there,
To hold you,
Run my fingers through your hair,
The way you like me too…

And comfort you through the night
But I was gone
Left you to yourself again
How stupid of me
I should have known
I should have been there…

I can’t help wonder what you were thinking,
What cold and empty thoughts ran through your head?
As you slipped that rope around your neck…

I cried as I found you
Lifeless and cold
But the pain still lingered
In your eyes
My heart broke
Seeing you as I did
And memories haunt my mind
I can't let you go

I want you so badly,
To still be here,
I want to tell you how much
It hurt to let you go…
I want another chance,
I can’t live this way,
Knowing how alone you felt!
I should have known!

Your pain still lingers
In the mist of the night
Your spirit walks free
But I still wish you were here
A smile was on your face
Should know you are happy
And I understand
Why you left
I understand, you are happier
But I still have a hard time
Letting it go

I can’t go forward,
I can’t return,
All I do is feel my heart burn!
I love you,
I curse you!
I wish you had not left me,
Here alone…

No matter,
What I do, how hard I try
I can't seem to get you out of my mind,
You haunt me day and night
And I keep trying to hold on
But I hear you calling:
Soon,
...I will not be alone…

This is so beautiful,
Excellent way to think of someone in heart.

This is so nice to read,
As it came from a powerful heart.

I can’t go forward,
I can’t return,
All I do is feel my heart burn!
I love you,
I curse you!
I wish you had not left me,
Here alone…

Too difficult situation .... to step forward or back ... The decision one take have more importance ... The output of our future lives in that decision ...

Wonderful

Very moving piece, Reindeer. And very well written. The contradiction of our own needs--it can work havoc.

Ah, dear me, I have known those tortured souls. I have talked to them. One day. Gone the next. I never knew. I never felt it. People can keep dark secrets all alone inside of them and then it is just comes a time when it is too late to reach out, they can only drop out. Sad. Damn sad.

Retta,

I was in the neighborhood, and thought I’d drop by. Wow, this write is absolutely heart wrenching, yet one that must be told. I’m quite sure you know that you can’t be in two places at the same time; it is however, very admirable that you have expressed your own regrets. In our lives unfortunately all too often, the big IF smacks us right in the kisser. Hold your head high, and try remembering the good times for there shall be plenty more. Stick around, and we’ll all get to watch the end of the movie together. Stay strong, and from what I’ve seen around the Den, you have quite a few great folks cheering for you in your corner. And, if it’s okay with you, I’d like to drop by and visit too? Love your writes.

Best of luck to you and yours,
Thomas

Retta, I guess you know you've managed for the first time this morning to move me to tears.
Suicide is never the answer, and it never ends the sorrow, it only hands it off to those that are left to deal with the reasons why.
To say this touched and moved me is an understatement..
Very well penned Retta, extremely painful! Lisa

The dark side of life, the other side of the happy face. Who can know? When Selznick's daughter committed suicide, she chided her mother, Jennifer Jones, with her last note. Jennifer often threatened suicide. Her daughter wrote, "See, mother, here's how you do it."
