Without You…

There is a desperate silence in my heart,
Like the quiet before the storm,
A sudden stillness which frightens even me,
It seems all hope is gone,
And I am resigned to my sister’s fate…

I keep trying to push it away,
Working hard throughout the day,
But it is always there,
Whispering in my ear,
Instilling such fear…

It’s like the wind has gone out of my sails,
And I am adrift on the sea,
Letting the current control my destiny,
Not fighting anymore,

It’s like there is a door,
Broad and solid oak,
Nailed shut against the cold,
I tried to pull it open,
But my strength has left me,

Standing before it,
Wondering how to proceed,
But the will has left me,
And I need you to see,

How much I want you with me,
How much I need us to be real,
Not a dream like this,
Not a fantasy I kiss with swollen eyes,
And broken heart…

There is a silence in the world that frightens me,
No more screaming,
No more singing,
No more dreaming.

Sadness so deep,
It cuts into my heart,
And silence it’s weeping,
Melding into the quiet so smooth…

I reach out and touch your face,
Your lips so full and sweet,
Your eyes which see into the deepest part of me,
Lay my head on your chest,
And hear the beating of your heart,
Echoing in the emptiness of my life…

Then I wake,
And stare into the darkness,
Wondering where you have gone,
And why you are not lying here,
Breathing softly beside me…

How much I wish we shared the same sky!
That the sun rose on us both!
That the moon would smile at lovers such as us!
That our dream would become reality!

How quiet it is!
How still!
I pray to the Great Spirit to give me strength,
To live one more day,
To see the time we dream of,
To feel you,
When you whisper you love me true ,

I need you to tell me again,
Why I need to live for that day,
Because my spirit has flown away,
And I don’t know how I can live through today,

Without you…

You are a magnificient poetess! Far superior to almost anyone at AD
I just need to read you once veryy slowly and let your words sink in.
Almost no one can combine this simplicity with feelings. Each word you write is from the heart. You are a far superior writer than anyone I know in your genre. And this is not a comment ... it is a critique. Bill Murray

Not a fantasy I kiss with swollen eyes,
And broken heart?

LOvely lines.

Did I ever say how much I love the pic on your bio page? Something very warm about it. A calmness.

Well written, Reindeer.

This is a very touching write. It made me feel my own "missing" that much more deeply. That picture is a perfect addition, as well. Loneliness...longing...really rough things to endure. You spoke to it so well.
