I saw an angel today,
But he ran away
When he caught me peeking.
At first,
I thought it was because I saw him weeping,
Soft feathery angel tears
That fluttered to the ground.
But,
He looked back when he ran,
And his eyes were shiny despite his grief.
As though,
I had somehow provided him a kind of relief...

I saw an angel today,
And he looked so sad,
That I wondered if it was because
Mankind was so bad...

I went over and touched
The angel's tear,
that lay lonely on the field,
And it soaked into my finger,
Making me feel weird...
Suddenly,
My eyes seemed to open wide,
And I saw the world through a veil,
That blew the darkness of my heart aside...

I saw the angel standing so still,
Staring at me, like angels will-
And I whispered to him;
"Are you real?"
But,
He merely smiled, giving me chills-
Frightened,
I backed away...
Though in my heart was to ask
Why he had cried-

Then,
I heard him whisper in my ear;
"Angels run because they can not hide,
Their love for all mankind..."

He saw the question in my eyes;
"Why then, do angels cry?"
He shrugged his winged shoulders and whispered:
"Its just something we all do,
When one of you,
Die..."
