August burns like fire, Smouldering memories that lean forward, And cry into the night... Touches the soul that never dies- Spring no better, My God, It melts my bones, I've never felt so all alone... Your face burning in my mind, With each sunset I leave behind- Flames licking those golden lips- Yes, I set fire to every memory, Trying to burn you from my heart... Betrayed! For all it did was inflame it even more, And now I must rely on the hot summer sun, To remember the color of your hair, And the cloudless sky, That was ever the color of your eyes... The vision of you rising, Like those shimmering images of heat- Reflecting in the falling sun, My heart saying with every struggling beat; I loved you, I loved you, I love you still...
