To the Sound of Silence,
The leaves that fall like thunder to the ground,
Echoing in the forest like raindrops
falling on the roof-
Listen,
and tell me what you hear...

In the silence,
I hear the leaves turning brown,
Groaning in pain,
Seeking that final release,
As they fall trembling to the ground.

Listen,
And tell me if you hear the Stone Statue
Aging in the center of the Garden.

Do you hear the mortar cracking like
lightning in the sky?

Paint fading and peeling like fingernails
on a chalkboard...
Screaming into the night,
Revealing the powdery dust once hidden inside...

Can you hear and watch
As the limbs lower each year,
Creaking like an old screen door.

Hear the shattering explosion as they fall
Crashing to the earth,
And crumble into ashes and dust-
The particles blowing into the breeze
Crackling like static...

And now listen,
and truly hear;
Nothing...
