Each page turned reveals a part of me,
I'd prefer others never see.
Yet,
My tongue is weak,
And I could never speak
Of that which carved my heart from stone,
Thus,
I'd rather be alone,
Than surrounded by all those
Who whisper love to me,
And feel their need began to shove me
From my weak perch on life-
I don't even know why I stay,
Or write these pathetic lines
Others were never meant to see...
Maybe I wanted to believe,
That someone could come to know,
And truly love,
Someone like me...

Raindeer, your work is always beautiful, it is the sign of a gracious and giving heart. Some are meant to be loved by one, but you, my poet friend, are loved by many, and will one day be loved by the world for your words of beauty, wit and love.

Dear Retta, Your writing is as great as ever. I find it hard to understand why love has evaded you. You just have not met the proper person who will cherish you. Fools they are! I can relate to your current poem, especially since becoming an old fart...LOL
