Girl on the train

On the train,
Across from me
Sits a girl of great beauty
Her eyes captivate me,
So dark and lovely,
Her smooth skin,
Excites my heart,
How I long to place a gentle kiss
On that high forehead,
Care for her,
Love her
As only I can,

I stare at her,
I have never seen such beauty,
Such loveliness in a sweet face,
Will she look up?
See me staring?
Smile perhaps?

She looks so pure,
So innocent
So sweet,
If she looks back,
She is not for me,
Too bold,
If she looks away,
Then I know she is the
One in my dreams,
Will she notice me?
I wait
And stare,

Then realize,
I would kill a man
Who looks at her like this,
For my heart is beating too loud,
Surely she can hear it!

Such a treasure
Deserves more than I give,
A palace of her dreams,
A man with beauty to match
Her own…

I look away,
Ashamed,
I need to tell her
I am sorry,
For I have violated her,
With the love in my heart,
But she is gone,
And I watched my chance at love,
Fade away

Retta, this is outstanding, and you have captured Sanil's style and grace so well. He should be honored, and I am impressed and awed.

I know exactly what this person felt like only I did speak my heart (to a guy)I don't know if it's easier to speak or walk away but at least you do have a slim chance if you try to make contact.
Great idea for a poem but then all yours are.

Interesting take on an old theme. Done it in my mind many times, ... like our guide on that Phillipine tour. I thought she could sense my thoughts, ... or at least my heart nearly pounding out of my chest.
