Whispers In Your Heart

So often I sit and wish,
I had been the first one you kissed…
The first one you missed
With all your heart,
Then those whispers
Wouldn’t be tearing us apart…

You say you love me,
But I see your eyes wander,
Looking somewhere you’d rather be,
Than with me…

You say,
No babe I love you,
Only you,
I promise I am true …

But I am looking at you,
And your heart is not there,
Its somewhere,
You’d rather be,
Not with me…

I close my eyes,
And try to believe your lies,
But the whispers in your heart,
Tell me,
We are already falling apart…

That first love is still there,
And she doesn’t even care!
Will never love you as I do,
But then,
My heart is true ,

I wish my heart was in you…
You question everything I do,
As if I am someone else,
How can you believe,
I would ever hurt you?

Those whispers in your heart,
Are tearing us apart,
How much I wish you didn’t hear,
Those whispers that you fear…

But they are there,
And I am beginning
Not to care anymore,
Stepping back and closing the door,

Easing back into the night,
The shadows where everything is right,
Where the soft darkness will hide,
The love I will always have for you…

That is actually the worst thing that can happen. You want to hold him with all your love, but can feel how he is pulling back, out of your heart. That hurts. But there isn't much we can do against it
Beautiful and touching write.

"But they are there,
And I am beginning
Not to care anymore,
Stepping back and closing the door"... A terrible, but inevitable, effect of whispers alienating... heartbeats. I have been there... **shivers**

"whispers in your heart" -- wonderful description. We so often waste time longing for a past love, not realizing that a better love is within our arms. Truly sad what we humans do to each other. Really good write.

We sometimes allow our fears to overshadow reality and see
treachery where there isn't any. Sometimes. But most of the time the deceit centers around the eyes. Very good poem.

Words of sadness Retta. When my confidence isn't what it should be, I try and focus on not that I wish I was first,,but the fact that he'll never want another and that I'll be the last he'll ever need. Great write. Lisa
