I Should Have Heard You…

You came to me in tears,
And I tried to listen,
But for some reason,
I couldn’t hear…

I tried to hold your hand,
And tell you,
I understand…
But,
I didn’t really…

I held you,
I cried with you,
I begged you to tell me,
What was wrong,
But you pushed me away…

Later after you died,
I replayed that day,
So many times,
Wondering if their had been,
Another way…

I cursed my youth,
I cursed our mother,
I cursed the day I was born,
But you remained buried in the earth…

Now in winter,
When the snow falls,
I remember your hair falling
On your shoulders like black velvet…

I remember your eyes filled with tears,
And I remember the words,
I couldn’t seem to hear,
I remember you,
And wonder if only,
There was something,
I could have done,
On that damned day,
To make you want to stay…

Its difficult not to be hard on yourself and wonder, there is no one to give an answer to your question, except your heart, so listen within......and find peace....

Reindeer,
I'm a firm believer in the theory that all things happen for a reason and that whatever has happened is what was meant to be. I know that small solace, but hard as that may be, it's the only thing that helps me to get "through" sometimes. Still, this is a painful, heartfelt write - and I feel your pain.

I wish you peace in your heart.

Retta, it's as though we are looking at the world through a keyhole. We can't change the view unless we can figure out a way to open the door.
Sometimes the door wasn't made to be opened. Your words sting my heart, So very touching. Lisa

Awww baby this is so moving, but guilt is useless, it only destroys the owner, and we are just but humans, but father times march's onward

Many look back and wonder if they could have changed the outcome by knowing what to do or the correct and right thing to say. We can just do our best and sometimes it falls short of what we want it to be
