I struggled with her limbs
They were young smooth and vibrant
Exuding life excitement and pleasure;
I could smell the freshness of the moisture
That oozed somewhere in her lower appendages;
Her scent was carried by the breeze
That foretold a hint of wildness that
Would remain for a long time;
I tugged and adjusted her trunk
So that it would fit perfectly in my arms
Being careful not to nick her tender hide;
She had been nurtured well
Tall and stately
Perfectly groomed;
What a choice I had made
In selecting this beauty;
I gently caressed her from
Top to bottom
Rubbing my cheeks and nose
Over her curves
And crevices
Each reminding me of other
Days and other times
In a wave of wondrous
Nostalgia;
I wanted to proclaim my joy
But the time was not yet
Ripe;
There is a time and place
For everything ours had
Not yet arrived;
I lifted her supple form
And carried her aloft
With great expectations;
She rested momentarily
In the back seat of my car
As I carefully drove the
Short distance to our
Rendezvous with fate;
We both arrived in perfect
Form;
I set her gently down
And put her feet onto
Accepting ground that I had
Prepared just for her;
She stood erect as did I
As I surveyed the spot that
she would call home for
Many years to come;
At last I was finished and
I gazed upon her countenance;
She was as perfect as any
Lady that had ever graced
A place in my heart and
In my front yard—
Behold my new tree!
I knew that there would be a catch. I think trees are beautiful and where I live we go to Letchworth State Park every fall to look at the beautiful scenery and it never fails to make me feel good.
You have taken tree hugging to the limit! I must say that I was expecting it, because the buildup was just way too much. But I was surprised that what it was and that is the essence of a well-written piece, poetry or not.
Beautifully done and the suspense built up well, though i kept guessing , something more was to come, "only by the line As I shoveled the earth... it was understood, And you have way with beauty in life, with words,women, other living and non livings things too for sure! JK
