The Wind
Invisibly it purrs proudly it roars
raising kites and our hopes along old trails and shores.
It speaks not in words, merely hints so it seems
Then in only an instant, it rips apart dreams.
We feel its gentleness in the swoons of our love
Ride it to destinations with a push or a shove.
It’s as old as the ages, yet who would have guessed
Its energy once captured, shows how we are blessed.
Now lighting our homes running appliances galore
Producing the handiwork from our factories and more.
Still we cannot predict what it will do next
Will it bring us new wealth or reduce us to text?
Here today and gone tomorrow
Whether friend or foe it favors sorrow.
We love it more than hate it, why else would we sing --
To those that we love, you’re the wind beneath our wings?
Rebecca
Was it meant for windy blowhards like me? ;-)
The wind is fickle, why we need backup when using it for steady power.
Love the reference to the song of the year at the end.
