Poem Artwork

She

In a moment unforeseen
she was before me
among countless faceless others
she stood out
like a stray sunbeam
on a misty day
radiant as the moon
on a cloudless night
extinguishing the stars
when she smiled
she spoke eternity
and spilled incessant sentiments
on the soiled floor
of my soul

At that instant
I was lost
to her siren's spell

Deep indeed calls to deep, Regis; little I can add about the piquancy of this beauty with its flow and ravishing imagery - but my favourite lines have to be: "She spoke eternity and spilled incessant sentiments on the soiled floor of my soul" - now that's what you call being truly immersed in and cleansed by the purge of love! Being washed and recreated to a fresh, new life. For each yearning soul there must be a "key-holder" to unlock this experience... then the old is stripped away and the new has come. A mystical experience - and like being brought into safe-harbour, I think, rather being sold down the Swanee into danger! Loved this - but then, I love them all! Bless you, Regis. Kate xx

Think most folks have covered this to the tee there. Knows the feeling of being lost to siren's spell. Not a bad way to be lost at times I say.

WOW! Breathtaking artwork and poem. Obviously you didn't see the mermaid movie on Science Fiction network the other day, 'She Monster', about the mermaid Queen. She seduced but then turned montrous! Also in John Michael Greer's book, Monsters, mermaids are listed as 'monsters' but, then again, so are angels :)!
What medium do you use for your artwork? It's gorgeous :)!

Sandy

Oh, now you've moved into one of my favorites areas.....Greek mythology - The Odyssey to be specific. Oh how I adore the ancient writings, and this is perfectly formed to fit right into one of Homer's tales.

Weave on, oh mythological poet warrior, The sea beckons & there is much to write about! Absolutely fabulous!

"she stood out
like a stray sunbeam
on a misty day"

You have a way of creating very vivid images in such few words. The sentence above, a perfect example of it. And the word "stray" is what does it. Not just a sunbeam on a mysty day, but "a stray sunbeam" -- a quick moment; it poignantly ties with "in a moment unforseen" -- unexpectedly -- surprising to the poet.

This is excellent. Loved the images and feeling throughout. Your postings are always a treat.

Carmen :-)
