Love makes no sense sometimes...

Poem Artwork

Southern Comfort

I love you so much
I sip your presence
Like southern comfort
I ache like an addict
When you’re not here
It’s so strange
I love you so much
I feel on the edge of dying
In southern comfort
I am hiding
From myself
I love you so much
I never knew
I’d fall like this
I love you so much
I’m drowning
In love with
Your southern comfort
Velvet skin
Your intoxicating scent
I’m dying in love with you
I don’t think it’s fair
That I don’t understand
Why
I love you
I’m drowning
In your southern comfort
I love you

Indeed the heart can lead us down paths without our heads knowing why...but by god! It can feel good to simply feel without seeking that ever common "practicle justification". Once again a piece I can relate to...I have been known to skip blindly down the odd path for no good reason :) Actually, that's how I ended up married to an awesome man that reason would have told me to avoid. Now if only I could convince him to write like this about me :) I think we've already established you know what you're doing when it comes to writing, but once again...awesome write. N

This poem reminds me of the Songs of Solomon. He, of course, should be the master of romantic prose considering that he had 700 wives and 300 concubines!!! And he was the wisest man who ever lived??? I'd think he was the most exhausted. Perhaps being wise doesn't always mean acting wise. Or maybe the romantic would say he DID act wise--can you tell I'm in a philosophical mood this morning Regis? I'ts your fault for producing this lovely poem and getting me thinking before I've finished my first cup of coffee, lol :-)

Because love doesn't make sense is what keeps it around, I suppose that being in love is throwing logic out the window and been carefully left for the ninnies.
Trying to understand love is a waste of time, when one should be drinking the elixir to the last drop, without asking again and again "what I am drinking?"
Southern Comfort? you are a refined man, Sir.

Drink deeply of that southern comfort, Regis. Forget the possibility of a love hangover. If we knew the answer to the question of "why", maybe hearts wouldn't be broken. And I don't know why I heard a Jamaican melody and beat while reading this poem. I just know that I love it, man!
