To have this happen to our ocean, is very devastating, shows no mercy to the animals to come, some are dead, if not all, it's just a matter of time til our oceans are polluted with waste and other accidents. It's a shame, since no one can seem to sense disaster as an ending.

It is so sad what is happening to Mother Earth and her beautiful creatures. So many don't care, and so many fight to save her. A somber write, Regis...moved me to the core.
So is this haiku made up of seven individual haikus? If so, clever! Must be hard to master that.
It is great to be able to capture in poetic form an event happening in the world. This subject is definitely an important one and I applaud you for writing about it and shedding light on it. You did a good job on it.

Greedy men never learn because their god is money and their religion is destruction. They never care about what they are doing, and when some disaster happens from their imcompetence, they always make excuses that this broke or that broke but they never accept the blame. You really wrote out what the disaster in the gulf is all about. Thank you for sharing.

Very nicely done, I agree. We seem to continually find better and better ways to foul this world while contributing nothing but grief. As I said to some of my friends...maybe there is a reason that the Divine put all that fossil "fuel" deep beneath the Earth's surface...as it is only ancient trash to the natural world.

You capture this horrific accident well with such compassion for all, human and animals who are now suffering and facing death because of it. Ah, but rest assured drilling has not stopped in the Gulf of Mexico, only British Petroleum because they blew up and all American rigs are shut down. The President has no jurisdiction over international waters. We have driven twice now since this happened and I can assure you it is a disaster, a shameful one at that. Yet, our government still won't ask for help from those who have the know how and equipment to clean this up.
IT IS WELL UNDERSTOOD THAT 'ACCIDENTS' WILL HAPPEN, BUT IT IS A MISERABLE SHAME AND A CATASTROPHE WHEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAS TO HAPPEN TO EXPOSE THE 'LACK' OF PREVENTATIVE MEASURES THAT 'SHOULD HAVE BEEN' IN PLACE, WHICH WOULD HAVE SURELY 'MINIMIZED' THE END RESULTS OF THIS MISHAP. SO HERE WE HAVE IT; THE OIL COMPANY SHOULD HAVE ENFORCED MORE RIGID OPERATIONAL STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS. "WILL MEN EVER LEARN?" Very precious look into the failure of beings and their lackluster devices. Very much, this writing surfs the groove of collective questioning, and it puts the ten toes right on the edge!
Since we depend on oil or this Country collapses, why are we drilling in the ocean? The real blame is on those who profited by pushing us there. Drill on land.
When it comes to money or safety, money is always going to be the winner. There has been a lot of finger-pointing in this mess, yet the honest truth is that this accident was bound to happen, at some time, to some oil drilling company. I blame my Government for allowing off-shore drilling without having a plan for every type of potential disaster that would ultimately occur. We are busy slapping BP with fines and feeling vindicated by that, but that is simply passing the buck and allowing those responsible to dodge the bullet. We should be angry as hell with those who serve us in Washington, DC for not protecting its citizens, land, oceans and wildlife from impending disaster. Stepping down from my soapbox now.... Captures beautifully the consequences of mankind's greed for fossil fuel at the expense of nature. I read an article recently that stated that the ocean liner QEII uses 1 gallon of diesel to move 10 feet! What a perverse waste of this non-renewable resource.
