It is the time of the cats
The fireplace crackling
With burning birch or maple
Or softly hissing natural gas
Has become the property
Of regal felines
Basking in the mellow warmth
Of scarlet and golden flames
There is much grooming
Of shiny fur and smart whiskers
The air is replete with purring
But there will be no meowing
Until the royalty demand their meal
And you their human servant
Will do their bidding
Feeling fortunate to feed them
For this is the time of the cats
Wonderful description of cats and how they take over the human condition. I like cats but I don't like them eating birds, lizards in the garden/bush. If only they would stick to cat food. The supermarket variety. Cheers
The picture by itself is a beaut. You captured how we relate to our pets, especially cats. Having a cat is kind of like having a child around, you just can't help but spoil them.
This is a good one Regis. Our cat lets us know she's around when she wants something. I'll take my dog anytime. May God bless you every day of your life.

purfect timing ... was just considering getting a cat ... maybe it is time to ... good poem, Regis ...
Just a funny thought; a friend and I were returning from a night of revelry when we came upon two cats who decided to duke it out. My friend tried to break up the fight, needless to say, he lost.
Ah yes, the fortunes of the favored, pampered felines are many. I believe my unwillingness to be subservient to everyone is probably why I have never owned a cat. For I know with certainly that is exactly the way it would be. They surely live the purrrrfect life. Don't they Regis? I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael
i am more of a dog person, but I must admit that I was enchanted and amused by this feline tale of the arrogance of cats! Very cleverly done, Regis; a rollicking good read.
Dogs have owners......cats have staff...Sue and I are perpetually indentured to cats. Our current two owners are Peppercorn, a ginger tabby, and Chicklet, who is black as coal and VERY vocal.
... and very cool it is, too, Regis! Hurley is a true prince and I think he would have me at his total beck and call! :)) The warmth and the purring are palpable. Lovely write! xx
T.S.Eliot would be proud of this one, Regis. And Andrew Lloyd Weber will be in touch with you for CATS II. Something so imperious about cats, natural 'aristocats' of the animal kingdom.
An adorable Monarch, Regis! They certainly do rule; as anyone who has ever been fortunate enough to be owned by a cat, will know :) I love the images you've created and the smile you've given me. Love and hugs, Elizabeth
I LOVE 'EM! AND YES...ONCE THEY MOVE IN, THE PLACE BELONGS TO THEM. I LOVE THE PICTURE AND AGREE WITH GEORGE...HE HAS A TERRIFIC MUSTASH! AND I LOVE MEN WITH MUSTASHES(SMILE). THANKS FOR SHARING, REGIS. THIS WORK WAS ENJOYED VERY MUCH. LOVE, BLESSINGS & PEACE...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
OMG! Hurley is sooo cool. The cat looks like its got a mustache. This was so true about cats. You don't own them they own you. Great poem of the cats Regis. God Bless. George AKA THE WISE OLD OWL
I love that cats don't really need us. Feral cats can do everything for themselves, except get neutered, that is up to us and then release them back into their area to live out their natural lives... but, of course, I feed them twice a day anyway have a couple of feral cat houses in the back yard and keep fresh water, even though they don't NEED me to...I just love to see them so relaxed in the yard content in the shady spots or sunning themselves. Then there are my inside cats, two boys, both sweet brats who are kind enough to allow me to live in their house and smart enough to get me to do just about anything for them, including pay the mortgage. My house is decorated with "kitty enrichment" donning giant cat condos, kitty beds and cat toys everywhere...furniture covered so I don't have to scold them to stay off the couch (like they would listen anyway). Yep, you have the cats figured out, Reg, and guess what? They don't care about that either; they will still get what they want from you. Cats are my favorite pet.
Take care,
Sherry
our pets do seem to run the household at times, they have us trained well i might add...totally relate to this regis, we have two dachshunds and i never stop serving them. great poem too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love this! But I must tell you that MY cats think it is always THEIR time... LOL They own me.. lock, stock, and kibble..)) And yes the kitty is a cutie..)
Awesome!!!! As the proud owner of two cats...I totally get this...I am here merely to serve them...giggle! Loved this Regis!!! And Hurley is adorable.....
I LOVE THIS, REGIS!!!!! I love cats more than just about anything, so this was right up my alley. You really wrote it well, too, as always. xxxx Michelle

Wonderful. Your cat is beautiful. Everyone who resides with a comforting feline is very lucky.
You've captured their personalities perfectly.
