Androgynous Me to You. This thirteen-year old youth
having shoulder length hair was greeted by a woman
in her sixites who said, "I don't know whether you
are a girl or a boy?" The androgynous looking teenager,
at least to this woman, replied, "Does it matter?"
Obviously, it mattered to this woman.
But I like very much the teenager's response. For
nearly fifty years I have proudly referenced more
than a few of my encounters with "Does it matter?"
"So what if I am a female? So what if I am a male?"
I knew the gender of this teenager and was aware
that this person had no gender or identity problem.
But I will leave it to the reader to guess or assign a
gender, if like this woman, you have a need to know.
There seems to be something andrognous about
using "Ms.? instead of "Mrs. or "Miss." Someone
asserts, I "I don't know whether she is married or
single?" That's important to me." What about God?
Is God "Father God or Mother God?" Is God both
male and female or neither?" Someome exclaims,
"I need to know the gender of God."
To these matters and many more I have found
superb wisdom in the teenager's assertion,
"Does it matter?"
Some very interesting points made by your article. It really doesn't matter to me unless I am seeking a mate where I do want, as a heterosexual male, to connect with a willing heterosexual female.

When I retired, we were both fired at the same time in a weird coincidence of being fired when I wanted to leave anyway. He didn't. We didn't keep in touch very much as we both searched for other work. And then, he announced that he had changed his name to a female name. Something that had been rumored, but I had not concerned myself with.
