From an observer in his or her living room , the Gulf war was almost over before it actually started as we all observed from our living rooms.
WE SAW THE WHOLE WAR ON TELEVISION
They cleared the trenches
With only M-16 rifles and hand grenades
It was as scary as it could be
And the enemy artillery rounds
Kept coming down like rain
They all hugged the desert ground
And just sat there holding their breath
One cried, we are alive
And another, are you ok?
We relived the same fear
Every time the bullets flew
Most of them were afraid
It was natural to be
They had pictures of sons and daughters
Wives and husbands, loved ones and all
They had pictures of their kids
I think it made some cry
But soon they moved and met the enemy in the trenches
The battle cry was given
And the bullets flew
The frightened even began to surrender
What a boost to our confidence
No more resistance
And from now on they only had to look
Not very hard over the horizon
To point the way South
For them and the television cameras
We saw it all on CNN.
This round will be covered even more - killing, aggression, and terror are so popular here: I listened live to all the speeches by Mr. Bush, and Mr. Powell's presentations at the UN - I also obtained the text from these. My opinion was that it was a lot of repeated rhetoric and old documents (available on the web-proven and reported by CNN to be in large part plagerized) presented as "new evidence" from British Intelligence. With each new presentation, the US justification for war became less credible. If anyone is truly interested in knowing the rationale for my stand, I offer them the following url which addresses all the "issues" raised at the UN and has point by point referenced quotes from US agents and UN inspectors that almost completely contradict what the US White House resident has told us is an imminent threat to our security... (Interests). Inspections and high tech monitoring give Saddam no chance to rebuild a weapons arsenal - aren't inspections and monitoring a better way than war, which will only provoke increased retaliation on the American people?
