We still cannot resist A chance to laugh, Yet sometimes We are carrying the joke too far, And laugh a little bit out of reason, Thinking that there is always Good reason for laugh, but is it?

I guess that's why kings tended to have jokers in the court. For all the nasty that was done, having a jester to help make light of very serious things, helped the king and his court cope.

Today we have late-night jesters making fun of the court every evening after the kids go to bed. Isn't it wonderful?
