I long to see him free...

For MS

I stretched out my hand
and yet he turned away
He didn't understand
What I had to say
My heart was always open
but still he blocked me off
I knew he needed space
when life got just too tough

He just didn't see the love
that motivated me
He may never ever know now
that I long to see him free (x2)

I felt his frustration,
- hurt with him in his pain
Saw his disappointment
in the son against the grain
Daily frustrations -
boredom, anger, fear
though trapped in a cage
he didn't want to hear

He just didn't see the love
that motivated me
He may never ever know now
that I long to see him free (x2)

The box he made himself
became a personal jail
a sense of duty kept him there
- another neutered male
I know he longs to fly
to soar above the clouds
His creative spirit now
is draped in dismal shrouds

He just didn't see the love
that motivated me
He may never ever know now
that I long to see him free (x2)

I thought I'd wake the monster
coerce him from his cave
To stick my neck out there
was either stupid or too brave
He came out fighting
though dressed in surface calm
and anxiously I smiled,
his fight became my balm

He just didn't see the love
that motivated me
He may never ever know now
that I long to see him free (x2)

Then he turned away again
- retreated even more
I only made him angrier
and he firmly closed the door
He just didn't see the love
that motivated me
He may never ever know
that I longed to see him free

That I longed to see him FREE

great poem and song Chanti. thanks for your review on my poem. I really felt some would take it negative a little. It's nice to have understanding on the stuff we write, especially when it is kind of controversal. l&p G

Chanti,

At first, when the Jews were liberated from the concentration camps, they did not leave. They were so accustomed to being caged, that it was all they knew. They had forgotten how to live freely.

Keep trying to show him how. It probably hurts him knowing he could be free, but can't. ~ Sara

Chanti, all one can do is continue their understanding and love, and hope and pray that in time they will see more clearly.
Your affections will hopefully be found on the pathway.
Awesome write.

It is with compassion that you reached - and it is with understanding that, one day, he will reflect and remember your embrace. (Wonderful graphics!)

to deal with. Just remember that you know, your heart meant well.

We all make our own boxes in life, and I guess all we can do is offer to help others when they need it, as you so compassionately did.
